Introduction Seeking Solitude
"Go! Go! Go!" Warren shouted, grabbing the armour, and struggling with Scott to pull it in front of the door. Mallory kept screaming, and had now sunk in the corner of the room, crying loudly. I ran over to the window and started to try and pry it open. It slid open easily and I ran over to Mallory.
"Try to stay calm. Just try to stay calm." I sputtered, grabbing her hand. I lifted her from the floor and walked her over to the window. "Come on." She was now whimpering as I helped her out the window, and onto the roof of Courtney's house. I slid out the window next, joining Mallory who was now screaming again watching the hordes of people walking toward the house. I stuck my head back in the house, "Guys come on!" I waved them over.
"Go!." Warren shouted to Scott, Scott took off to the window and dove through it. I helped him up off the roof, and looked over at Mallory, she was backing up to much.
"Mallory watch out your near the edge!" I shouted as her foot slipped off the roof and she fell, one of her legs dangled off the roof top as she kept screaming. I took off to her, grabbing her hand. I heard a shatter and Mallory was tugged down, her screaming intensified.
"Oh my God! Aaron! Don't let them take me." she screamed as I pulled. I could feel her kicking at the people trying to pull her down, her other leg going over the edge. I looked over at Scott who was trying to pull Warren out of the house, and I thought about how it would be like to die, here with these people. I felt Mallory's grip begin to slip, I saw Warren kicking Courtney in the face. Her nose broke, and blood smeared her face. Mallory screamed louder, as I pulled her. My arms were killing me, the pain was intense crazy. She got one of her legs back on the roof, and I grabbed her ass and lifted her completely onto the roof. She scurried away from the edge, and I ran over to help Scotty pull Warren out of the house. I grabbed Warren's legs and pulled, he was out. Courtney's arm reached out the window along with her mother's.
"Warren I thought you loved me." she snarled, blood streaking her face as she tried to climb through the window.
Warren, Scott, and I stood up, Mallory shrieked and slammed Courtney in the face with the satellite dish she had pried off the roof. "For the last time." Mallory grabbed the collar of Courtney's shirt and pulled her to the edge of the roof, "stay away from my boyfriend!" she tossed her off the roof and into the crowd of people now surrounding the roof. I grabbed Mrs. Stat, Courtney's mom, and with Warren and Scott's help followed Mallory's lead and threw her off the roof. We climbed back into the house, and looked around the room. Mallory immediately went back into the corner and started to cry again, "Oh my God... do you think Parker and Kevin are okay?" Warren went over to her, placed his hands on her face and looked her in the eyes. I moved the armour with Scotty and looked in the hall.
"Sweetie." Warren said, "I need you to be that girl that was on the roof a few seconds ago, okay. I need you to be strong. You cannot... I know you wanna scream and panic and freak out but I need you, to try and control yourself. I need you to be take control of whats going on inside your head, because I need you." Mallory nodded her head as tears of fear streaked down her face.
Scotty and I went through the house and locked the guest room, where the people that had tried to grab Mallory were now stuck. They were banging on the door, and Scott slid a dresser out of what seemed like Courtney's parents room and pushed it in front of the door. Just as Mallory and Warren came out of Courtney's room. "They're breaking in downstairs too." he said as I looked through Mr and Mrs. Stat's closet. Mallory appeared next to me.
"Thanks for pulling me up." she said and hugged me. I smiled.
"Please I could never let you fall." I smirked. I continued searching for something anything when I heard Mallory let out a yelp when she reached the doorway of the bedroom. I took off toward the hall to her aid but when I got there she was embracing Parker and Kevin.
"Thank God." she said, "How did you guys I mean what happened?" she stepped back to give them room.
"We went outside to help Mr. Stat with the groceries, when I got to his car. Kevin pushed me, I hit the ground so hard. We were being nasty to each other like always and when I fell I thought he..." Parker put her hands on her head. Kevin was had blood dripping down his side, "Um Mr. Stat tried to hit me in the head with a shovel and Kevin pushed me. He pushed me." She wrapped her arms around him.
"I wrestled the shovel away from him and stabbed him with it, in the neck. I don't know how my side got sliced open." he said and lifted up his shirt.
"I do, that crazy bitch neighbor came at us out of nowhere and ripped into him with some weird claw looking thing with a handle. Anyway I hit her with this ugly flower pot and when we ran back inside, these people rushed the house, I slipped, and landed next to the downstairs coat closet, I opened the door grabbed Kevin and we stayed in there. Until we heard your voices up here. What the hell is going on?" Parker finished and Kevin slid his arm around her for support. Scott still holding the door to the guest room closed with the dresser interrupted.
"Look." He pointed to a string hanging from the ceiling, and attic door. I yanked the string and sure enough stairs spilled down, we all ran up into the attic. I pulled the door up and then the string. I looked at my friends.
Mallory, Warren, Scotty, Parker, Kevin, and me "We'll be fine, okay. We just hang here for a while wait till things cool down, and then go call the police and everything will be okay." Warren looked at everyone, just like I did. "We're gonna be fine." he said again.
