Chapter 1 We Need Help

Chapter 1 We Need Help
"You guys Kevin's bleeding isn't stopping." Parker said, pulling the drenched old shirt from his side and replacing it with a new one that she pulled out of the box next to her. My friends and I had already been in the attic for five hours and we were starting to worry.

"Are they still out there?" Warren asked, while Mallory snoozed on his shoulder.
Scotty stood from his spot on the floor, and walked over to the small window in the attic. "Yeah, five people standing by the door and another two by the cars." He walked over to the attic entrance, "and God knows how many down there."
"Scott." I said. He was getting restless.

"No, look Aaron we did things Warren's way I say we get whatever we can and charge them, Get to the cars and get the hell out of here." He said picking up an old bat.

"What about Kevin?" Parker said standing from Kevin's side. She flipped her blonde hair and stared him in the eyes.

"Look I care about Kevin just as much as you but I mean if we take those people out we can come back for him, or we can leave him here and go get help." Scotty said, and pushed past her, to Warren. "So what do you say, we get to my pick up and we are set. We leave the girls and Kevin here. The girls will slow us down and the faster we get there the faster we can bring help."

Warren looked at Mallory, brushed her cheek lightly and slid her to the floor. He stood up and grabbed a pipe he saw laying in the corner. "Alright."

"Um, hello." I spoke up, "Fuck that, you wanna leave the girls here alone with bleeding out Kevin. No way, I am staying here." I said, placing my hands on my hips.

"Thank you, Aaron." Parker said, she apparently hated the idea. I smiled at her a little.

"Fine, okay stay here but don't let anyone up unless they know the password." Scott said. I nodded my head and gave him a hug. "Hey," he looked me in the eyes, "I'll be fine." I nodded.

"What’s the password?" Warren asked.

"Scotty doesn't know." I said and walked over to where Mallory was laying, "What do I tell her when she wakes up?"

Warren stared at her again, "The truth that I love her and went for help." He turned and opened the attic entrance. Scotty peered down and looked over to Warren. He went down the stairs, first and I watched Scotty follow, Parker and I closed the hatch quickly.

"Watch them through the window." Kevin said, Parker and I ran across the attic toward the window. "Do you see them?" Kevin asked from the floor.

"No, not yet." I said, searching for them, the people in front of the house didn't move. "Come on. Come on. Come on." I muttered, feeling helpless knowing that two of my friends were so far MIA

"What do we do?" Parker asked looking at me, "What do we do?"

"Wait, and they’ve only been gone about a minute let them think." I said, when I turned back to the window Warren emerged from the house, he took off sprinting past the five people and toward the street. The people followed him. "Oh shit." I gasped. Warren was flying and the people were gaining on him, just as Scotty leapt off the porch and slammed his bat across the face of one of the people watching the car. The woman was knocked out and the man on the opposite side dove at him. Scott swung the bat and connected with his jaw, I could hear it shatter from the attic, as Parker and I clutched each others hand."Go. Get in the fucking car." I screamed as he unlocked the driver's side door, and jumped in.

"Oh my God!" Parker yelled out, I looked over at Warren who was now standing on top of a car swing his pipe at any of the people that got to close. I looked over at Scott as his pick up sputtered, and sputtered but didn't roar on.

"Fuck!" I heard him cry as he kicked the door open and ran to the front of the truck propping up the hood. Warren's pipe connected to some old man's face. He jumped back to the ground and ran back onto another car. Scott started looking for something wrong with the car.

"Oh my God! Scott watch out!" Parker shouted as the guy he had cracked in the jaw stood up and slammed the hood of the car down on top of him. It slammed down on his head and upper body the man raised it and slammed it down again and Scotty slumped down to the drive way. I ran over to the attic entrance, picking up an abandoned golf club, opened the entrance and jumped down. I landed awkwardly and felt my ankle twist. I got up and ran down the stairs. When I reached down stairs I saw three people knocked out, I sped outside where the guy with the broken jaw started to drag a disorientated Scott away toward the shed in the backyard. I smashed my club in the back of his head and he fell to the ground.

"Scott." I said and helped him up, we ran over to the pick up, I could see that Warren had been knocked down on the ground. I threw Scott the keys to Queen Bee. Warren kicked some bitch in the throat and scurried away from the grasps of two others. I watched as my car revved to life and Scott blew past me and toward Warren hitting some guy that was after him. Warren dove past the people attacking him and into the open passenger side door. "Yes!" I exclaimed, then I was on the ground. The woman Scott had cracked in the head was on top of me, I rolled on top of her, and slapped her clean across the face, She grabbed my neck and I felt her nails dig into my skin. I stood up, and on her arms. She grabbed at my legs as I reached for the house I could see Warren's attackers getting closer to me. I kicked the woman in the face and raced into the house stumbling up the stairs and toward the attic. "Scotty doesn't know!" I screamed. The attic swung down and I climbed the steps. I helped Parker pull it up, and the string. I leaned against the wall.

"What were you thinking?" Parker shouted, I massaged my neck slightly it hurt. "You’re bleeding." She said. I saw Mallory walk away from the window apparently she had woken up.

"Are you okay?" she asked. I nodded. "So, what now?"

"They'll be back soon. We can hold out." Kevin said and clutched his wounded side keeping pressure on the wound. He was losing color, but he was right they had gone for help. They would be back.
