Chapter 5 Sleeping Beauty and a Kiss

Chapter 5 Sleeping Beauty and a Kiss

"Whats gonna happen to the cute man?" I heard Iyari ask someone as we picked him up again.

"Bring him to the nurse's station." Warren said. We placed him on the examining table.

"Parker get an ice pack for your wrist," Mallory said and walked over to Scotty lifting up his jeans to see his leg. He was bleeding, "I don't think its that bad but we should clean it out." she went over to the first aid cabinet pulling out the gauze and peroxide. I walked out of the nurse's room. Isabella was over near the girls bathroom wiping Iyari's face with a paper towel while Alessandro had started talking to some guy. I looked around on the floor and for the first time noticed all the blood.

"Mallory." I said and brought her out of the nurse's station.

"What's wrong?" she asked and I pointed at the floor. Mallory ran back over to Kevin and lifted up his shirt, his stitches were fine. "Scotty how badly were you bleeding?" she asked.

"Not bad." he said.

"Really," she pulled him to the entrance, "explain." She demanded pointing to the blood.

He looked from the blood to her, "Our mom." The Badias and the new guy were next to us now.

"Where is she?" Mallory asked.

"The cafeteria." he answered.

She nodded her head, "Whose been watching her?"

"Me." The mystery guy said, "Bomani Bestat."

"Well... what are you waiting for? Take me to her." Mallory snapped and he started toward the cafe with her on his heels.

"You guys go," Parker said to Warren and Scotty, "Me and Aaron'll watch him." she winked at me and as they took their leave.

"Yeah you guys can go too, me and them can watch the cute man." Iyari said to her parents. I stifled a laugh.

"She'll be fine." I said to her father. He nodded, and with his wife, followed the crowd to Mrs. Depkin.

"Is he ever gonna wake up?" Iyari asked, walking over to him and putting her hand on his.

"He'll be fine, he just needs rest." Parker said, smiling.

"Or maybe he just needs a kiss."

"What?" Parker asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at me obviously amused. I smiled a little, but it was half hearted I was worried about my step brother.

"You know like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty." she stopped a moment and then her face lit up like a light bulb in her small head went on, "You should kiss him." she said looking at Parker.

"No, I don't think so." Parker said stepping back from him and towards me.

"Why not? Aren't you a princess?" she asked her eyes all big and wide.

"Why would you think I'm a princess?" Parker was starting to feel cornered, and I was definitely enjoying watching her squirm.

"Well your pretty and um... your necklace." Iyari said nervously, as Parker glanced at her neck to see that she was wearing Courtney's princess chain. She looked at me for help. I threw my hands up in the air and looked at Iyari, smiling. "Please." she batted her eye lashes and as Parker rolled her eyes she walked over to Kevin and placed her lips on his.

When she came back up she looked at him and nothing then looked at Iyari, "See, Iyari those things are just stories. They've never happened. They're fake."

"Parker!" I shouted, not believing my ears. "Why would you say that?"

"Well maybe you just aren't a real princess." Iyari snapped walked up to the chair in the corner of the room slid it over to the examining table and stood on it to sit next to him on the table. She brushed a strand of hair lightly out of his face, "Wake up." she whispered and kissed him softly. When she pulled away I was heartbroken.

"Iyari." I said walking over to her.

"Open your eyes." she continued, holding the sides of his face and then kissing his cheek.

"Well it looks like you aren't a real--" Parker started as Kevin's eyes fluttered open. My jaw dropped and I looked over at an a equally shocked Parker.

"Who are you?" Kevin asked, and then looked over seeing me and Parker.

"Your princess." she said and smiled hugging him.

Chapter 4 Sanctuary

Chapter 4 Sancutary

"I knew you'd come for me. I knew you'd come back!" Mallory cried as she showered Warren's face with kisses. He was smiling and holding her in the back seat.

"I love you so much." he said hugging her so tightly I thought she might bust. I looked over at Scotty. He kept glancing at the rearview mirror. I wanted him to talk to me tell me something, anything. I turned around to check if the other car was still following us.

"So what the fuck happened back there? We left you guys in Courtney's and you end up next door." he looked over at me, I told him everything that had happened, Mallory's plan, the ladder bridge, the Badias, Kevin's stitches, and the struggle we had had before they arrived.

"What about you did you find help?" I asked, he looked back in the rear view mirror.

"Sort of, I'll catch you up later. I just want to make sure that we get to the high school okay." he said, and then i felt his warm hand on mine, "I'm glad your okay." he said and smiled. I melted on the inside and then his hand was back on the steering wheel.

"So who are those people in the other car?" I asked, I could see people running out of there homes, and screaming for help. It was breaking me seeing them like that, but we couldn't help them. We couldn't stop.

"Lacheya and George, we saw them near the school with about nine others. We needed help, our Mom was pretty bad." Scotty said, and Mallory stopped making out and unstraddled Warren.

"Your Mom, is she okay?" Mallory asked Warren brushing a strand of hair out of his face. They were quiet, and I was thinking the worst.

"Our Dad he went after her. She uh . . . isn't doing good." Scotty answered, looking over at me. "Aaron we um... found your dad and Kevin's mom." His face said it all, that they weren't okay. That they were either dead, or killing people. I looked out the window, and Mallory's hand was on my shoulder. "They attacked us." he finished and I knew that he had either killed them or fought them off.

"I don't wanna know anymore." I closed my eyes to blackout the world. When I opened them I gasped as we crashed into someone. Scotty hit the brakes and the car spun, and swerved. Mallory screamed out and Warren grabbed a hold of her. I watched the world spin, and then tip over. The glass crashed inward and sprayed all over me. My head was seeing stars and I could barely move. I was aching. I unfastened my seat belt and fell to the roof. Mallory slid out of the broken window and then helped me out. I shook my head, and held onto her for support. Scotty and Warren got out of the car next, Warren had gotten a small cut on his head, and it looked like Scotty had hurt his right leg. The car that Parker was riding in pulled up immediately, and one of the passenegr doors opened.

I helped Mallory in and went in after her. "Oh my God are you okay?" Parker asked, She was in the baggage compartment with Kevin. While The Badias were all in the second row of passneger seats, and we now filled the first. When Scotty got in the car he closed the door and the old man drove off.

"We're fine." Scotty said and held his leg.

"You don't look fine." Lacheya said.

"Its nothing." Scotty snapped and she backed off. I looked over to the back and Iyari was asleep.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked Alessandro.

"Yes, we are thanks to you. You saved my daughter's life and wife's twice tonight." he said and grabbed my shoulder, "Thank you." he said and Isabella smiled at me.

"No problem." I said and looked over at Parker, "How is he?"

She looked up at me, "Nothing I think he's out again. I think Mallory's right. He needs blood." I nodded.

"And you?" I asked.

"Just my wrist from the fall earlier but its nothing." she said, and I wasn't sure but I think she winked. The school was coming up soon. I looked at Mallory who had her head on Warren's shoulder, and I wanted desprately to be near Scott. We saw the school and pulled right up to the front doors.

Lacheya turned around and looked at us, "Okay first things first Warren you, me, and the the kid next to your girl bring in the guy in the back. The rest of you get inside as quick as you can. Now that includes you too nurse blondie." Parker looked up and smiled nastily, "George you wait until everyone is inside before you lock up." he nodded. "Okay lets go." She said and jumped out of the van. I swing open my passenger door and ran to the back to help get my step brother out of the back seat.Warren was there and Lacheya the back popped open and we grabbed him quickly. Parker was out of the van like a bolt of lightning but instead of going right inside helped us bring him in. We got into the school and laid him on the linoleum floor, The Badias ran in next, Mallory and Scotty were already inside and that made everybody George slammed the doors shut and slid the keys in the lock sealing the doors.

Chapter 3 Returned

Chapter 3 Returned

I woke up as Parker screamed. When my eyes opened the front window was broken and they were inside. I saw Mallory close the bathroom door sealing herself and Kevin in. I immediatley stood and ran to Parker's side, I grabbed her hand and ran toward the kitchen. Parker's hand was gone and when I turned she had been knocked down. I grabbed a kitchen chair and smashed it over the back of Parker's attacker. He turned to me and tackled me to the floor. "Parker run!" I screamed, she stood up and looked around. I felt the guy on top of me scratching at my neck and then he was choking me. I smashed his head against the bathroom door once, twice, three times his grip tightened. Parker was crying now and I could see her start to panic. I shoved my tumb hard into my attacker's eye, as he squeezed my throat harder. Parker ran up the stairs. I felt his eye pop under the pressure of my thumb. He finally let go and shrieked raising his own hands to his empty socket. I coughed, placed my foot on his chest and pushed hard. He soared back and slammed into the wall. I stood up slowly and dove at the woman that had hold of Isabella. She fell to the ground and I was on top of her. I started to punch. Alessandro came over and grabbed his wife guiding her to the stairs. I kept punching as she let out a howls of pain. I didn't stop. I wouldn't stop. Her face was chop meat after three minutes and I saw the bathroom door get forced open. I stood up, the guy that had forced his way in let out a scream as I saw Mallory spraying hairspray into his eyes. I jumped over the coffee table and forced him away from the door. Mallory closed it quickly and I kneed the guy in the stomach and pushed him into the kitchen. It was the guy with one eye. I grabbed him by his shirt and dragged him to the back door. I opened and closed the door on his head until he stopped moving, and then sunk to the floor. I put my hands on my face and looked back into the living room. My hands were covered in blood and now my face was to, my neck was raw. I was finally catching my breath. I stood up slowly and walked over to the bathroom door, "Scotty doesn't know." I said hoarsely, the door opened slowly and inside was Mallory and Kevin who was still unconscious. He was sewn up and he had some of his color back. I looked at them and Mallory stood up off the floor.

"Oh my God. Are you okay?" she asked as I walked over to the stairs. I nodded and started up them toward the bedroom, my heart was still thumping hard in my chest as I reached the second floor. Mallory was still on the first floor, looking up at me. The only problem was that it wasn't me I was empty. I wasn't feeling anything. I was going on instinct. I knocked on the bedroom door.

"Open up." I said as I knocked on the door to the bedroom, Alessandro swung it open a lamp in hand.

"Jesus Christ, you scared me." he said as I looked in the room and behind him was Isabella and Parker. Parker was immediatley at my side wrapping her arms around me.

"I'm sorry. I freaked out. I didn't know what to do. I just. . . "she was crying.

"You did good." I strained to talk, my throat was killing me.

"What, but I ran." she said. She looked at me, and finally noticed all the blood, "Oh my God you're bleeding." she screamed out. I heard something break downstairs.

"Most of its not mine." I said, she held my hands and then I heard a small yelp. I took off, racing for the stairs and then down them. When I reached the landing Mallory had stabbed a piece of glass from the broken window into the head of the woman that I had punched. Mallory looked over at me, and then started back toward the bathroom. Alessandro was behind me, his hand on my shoulder.

"Go wash up, Isabella will give you some of my clothes to changing into." he said, I coughed a little and nodded. Turning back to the stairs I walked past Parker and into the upstairs bathroom, it was pitch black. I turned on the light, and stripped. I had small cuts on my knuckles and there was blood on my face, arms, and hands. I turned on the shower, and climbed in. The cold water woke me up and tensed my muscles. I was freezing but at least I was feeling. I heard the bathroom door open, I opened the curtain a little and it was Isabella coming in with a candle and clothes. She smiled at me and turned off the light the room dimmed to candle light as she left it on the sink and closed the door. I sealed my self back into the shower, away from the others and away from the world. I watched as the blood drizzled down my body and onto the white porcelian of the tub. The cold was biting my skin harshly and my teeth were chattering. I formed fists and tightened them. I had killed someone. It wasn't like when I had hit them and they got back up, that guy wasn't going to get back up. He was going to lay there still forever. Warm tears slid down my face as I clenched my fists tighter. I could feel my finger nails break the skin of my palms. I closed my eyes to stop from crying. I had to kill him. It was me or him, Parker or him. I shut off the water abruptly and stepped out of the shower. I grabbed the towel off the towel rack and dried up. I dressed in the very tight white shirt, jeans that were to big, and an overshirt that was like a parachute that Isabella had laid out for me. I walked out of the bathroom leaving the candle in there and made my way down stairs buttoning the third button from the top and leaving the rest undone.

"Thanks for the clothes." I muttered walking past Isabella.

"The t-shirt is mine I didn't think that any of Alessandro's would be fitting you." she walked over to her husband who stood by the broken front window.

"We can't stay here." he said looking over at me.

I snorted, "To bad where else are we gonna go."

Mallory walked out of the downstairs bathroom, her hand was bandaged. "I don't know." he answered.

"Look," Mallory said, "Our friends are coming for us. They went for help. When they get here then and only then are we leaving."

"Mallory, don't be such a fucking bitch." Parker interjected coming from the kitchen. "Look," she said turning to Alessandro, "Why don't you and Isabella go check on Iyari in the basement make sure she's okay, and give me and my friends a chance to talk." The couple looked one another in the eyes and nodded, walking over to the basement entrance and vanishing from sight.

"Iyari, whose that?" I asked.

"Their daughter she's like four or six I don't remember any way she's in the basement." Parker said moving to the sofa and taking a seat. "How's Kevin?" she asked looking over at Mallory.

"Better, the stitches helped. . . a lot, but I uh. . . think he might need blood. He's really disorientated." she said.

"Wait he's awake?" I asked.

"Yeah for about a half hour now, but he's not making any sense. He just keeps muttering about random things, 'Hilary Duff can so sing'. . . 'Why do they always kill off Mike Vogel' shit like that." she glanced over at Parker. "I'm not leaving here until Warren comes."

Parker sighed, "What do you want Mallory? Do you want me to tell you that--" Parker stood up and I spun around to look out the window. My car sped up to Courtney's house. I saw Parker take off to the basement entrance and Mallory run to the bathroom. I vaulted out through the broken window and toward Queen Bee. Warren and Scotty jumped out of the car.

"Over here!" I screamed they stopped in their tracks, turned to me and then a light was in my face. I couldn't see.

"Its okay, he's one of us." I heard Warren yell.

"Where are the others?" Scotty shouted and then he was next to me grabbing my shoulders tightly. I grabbed his hand and ran back to the Badia's house. Scott and Warren were both with me when I got inside Mallory had pulled Kevin out of the bathroom and Parker was back on from the basement with the entire Badia family including little Iyari, who was clinging to her mother. "Come on!" Scotty commanded. I saw them first racing toward us, there were so many of them.

"Holy shit!" I screamed, making my way back into the house. Parker fell and hit the coffee table hard knocking the candles down on the carpet. She stood up slowly and I fell on my back next to her. She helped me up as Warren went over to help Mallory with Kevin. The fire was getting worse as I finally stood.

"Get to the cars!" Scotty was yelling, They jumped through the window. I grabbed Parker and ran to the kitchen, making it to the back door. She swung it open and we ran into the backyard. We ran along the side and toward the Queen Bee, there was another car behind it a small old man was behind the wheel, and a black woman who looked not much older than me sat in the passenger seat. I ran to it, and opened the back door. Parker jumped in and as I was about to I saw Isabella stumble to the ground. Iyari was screaming as one of the others started pulling her away by the hair, her mother was trying to get the man on top of her off and get to her daughter at the same time. I closed the back door and ran over to them. I grabbed a pike from their broken picket fence and slammed it on the back of the guy that had a hold on Iyari. He didn't let go and he kept dragging her away. I threw it to the ground picked up a shard of wood instead and shoved it into his neck. He let go and turned to me, and fell. I grabbed Iyari and brought her back to the car with the Parker.

"Watch her." I commanded. Parker nodded and held onto her. I raced back Isabella's face was being pushed deep in the dirt and I ran up to him and with all my might rammed my knee into his jaw. The momentum knocked him off her and onto the stairs of the front portch. Isabella was spitting and coughing, as Alessandro fell to the ground beside her. I took the pipe he had in his hands from him, "Get her outta here!" I yelled, he nodded and took off toward one of the cars, dragging his wife with him. I spun around and swung the pipe at the woman that had knocked Alessandro down. She dodged it. I swung again, and she moved out of the way. When I swung the third time she grabbed it and tried to pull it from me, I slammed my knee in her gut and when she released it I smashed her head again and again with it until I heard a sickening thud. Kevin was on the floor in the burning house, I looked over to the cars. Where were Scotty, Warren, and Mallory? I ran into the house and grabbed Kevin, putting the pipe down. Scott and Warren were getting cornered by four of them and Mallory was being held against the wall by some guy twice her size. He had her off the ground, his hands around her neck. I pulled Kevin out onto the lawn and waved to the car.

The black woman and Parker jumped out of the car and raced toward the house. "We'll put him in the back." the black girl screamed, "George!" she yelled as I took off back inside, Mallory had gotten the upper hand and was getting up off the floor as the man shrieked in pain. I dove onto the back of one of Scott's attackers. He walked back and slammed me on the banister. I screamed out and let go, he turned to me picked me up and flung me on the stairs. I started to stand seeing Mallory pick up the pipe I had left on the floor. She swung it at his chin and connected. The fire was spreading and the large sofa we had sat on moments ago was now a blaze. I kicked my attacker in the gut sending him down the stairs and I ran up them. He followed. I dove into the bathroom with him on my tail I grabbed the candle in there and shoved it in his face. He screamed out. I grabbed the shower curtain rod and pulled it down. He was howling on the floor and when he opened his mouth I drove the curtain rod in his mouth. I felt it hit teeth and then the back of his throat. I pressed down hard and felt the soft tissue give way. When he stopped moving I ran down stairs. When I reached the first floor the fire was everywhere and Mallory was limping toward me. Scotty and Warren were standing up too. The four of us made our way outside. We moved to Queen Bee and got in.

Chapter 2 Mal Intent

Chapter 2 Mal Intent

"What time is it?" Kevin asked.

"Seven fifteen, its gonna be getting dark soon." Parker said, "Maybe we should light some candles. I mean like just one right now and then the rest later, when it gets really dark. Cause I am not staying up here in the pitch black."

"Alright, but we need to cover up the windows, I don't want them knowing we're up here." Mallory answered.

"Sweets sorry to burst your bubble but they know." Parker snapped, "They're just waiting." She went over and picked up some newspaper and started to tape it to the window.

"Waiting for what?" Mallory asked, peeling of her over shirt. I walked over to Kevin who was looking worse than before.

"Don't you get it, we're the bait, they know that Warren and Scotty went for help." Parker put the last piece of newspaper up and grabbed the candle, "Shit, no matches."

"Wait." Mallory said as Parker flung the candle across the attic floor, "There was a lighter on Mrs. Stat's night stand."

"So it might as well have been at your house cause I am not going down there." Parker spat.

"I will." I said and stood up.

"No, I'll do it." Mallory said, "I can get us food and water and that sewing kit I saw in the closet you were riffling through."

"Whoa Mal sweeties you don't have to do all that. I mean seriously what are we gonna do with a damn sewing kit? Fix the rips in my jeans?" Parker said stepping away from the window.

"Look Mr. Stat brought in a case of water and put it on the kitchen counter before he asked you two for help, and we need the sewing kit to patch up Kevin's cut. I can do that, I can do this." Mallory looked over at me and Parker.
"No way I'll go." I said.

"No, you’re the only one that can pull me up, and lower me down." Mallory said.

"What are you talking about just use the stairs like we've been--" I started
"We can't use the stairs. Think about it I go down stairs and you leave them down. Those people beat me to death and then come right up. It'll be safer if you lower me down and then I pass you the things. When you have everything let the stairs down and I'll come up." I looked Mallory in the eyes. She had her mind set.

"Fine." I said.

"This is crazy it’s only been two hours, I changed my mind I can sit in the dark." I went over to the attic entrance while Parker ranted, "Look Mallory what if something happens? You won't be able to get up here if the stairs are up."

"Neither will they, and I will. Trust me. Aaron won't let me fall." She smiled at me, as I opened the attic up. I looked down and waved her over. She walked to the edge sat down and grabbed my hands as I lowered her down. Her feet hit the ground a little louder than I wanted but she seemed unshaken.

"Get what you need and get back." I whispered, she nodded and headed for the stairs. I watched her disappear behind the wall.

"Kevin, oh my god Kevin are you okay?" Parker asked I stood up and walked over to the two of them. He looked bad.

"Fine, just tired." He said, "and cold." I grabbed Mallory's discarded over shirt and draped it over him.

"Hey," I heard Mallory whisper sharply. I walked over to the entrance, she lifted the 24 pack of water up and I grabbed it, placing it next to me.

"Come on." I said, reaching for her next.

"Wait." She nodded toward Mrs. Stat's room, and then went in.

"What’s happening?" Parker whispered.

"Shh." I hissed. Parker propped Kevin's head onto her lap.

Mallory came out of the bedroom and slid the lighter in her front pocket, the sewing kit in hand. She handed it to me, and I placed it next to the water. I looked back down, to see Mallory throw herself at the wall to dodge the axe that was coming down on her. She let out a scream and then sunk to the floor as the man slashed at the wall where she had just stood, the axe stuck in the wall he struggled to pull it free as Mallory jumped into the air grabbing hold of my arms, "Pull me up! Pull me up!" She screamed, I lifted quickly the axe got free from the wall and hit the attic entrance just as Mallory's feet had come up. I slammed the door shut.

"Shit." I said as I saw the axe chopped into the entrance, "Oh my God what do we do." I sputtered.

Parker stood up and rushed to the window, "Oh fuck, they're coming inside." Parker ran over to the entrance, Mallory grabbed the water and ripped open the plastic casing. The entrance was giving way quickly.

"That." I pointed to the full size mirror and ran over to it slid it over to the entrance and placed it over it. I heard the glass shatter, and then a screech of pain. The chopping had stopped, momentarily as Mallory started packing an old duffel bag with the water. I ran over to what looked like an old toy box and slid it over and on top of the what was becoming a barricade. Parker opened it promptly and started piling old weights from Mr. Stat's health crazed phase into the box, weighing it down. The chopping sound started again.

"Fuck!" Parker screamed. "What do we do? God I really don't want to die here." She ran over to Kevin, who looked like he was about to pass out. Mallory slid the sewing kit into an old lap top carrying case. She threw the duffel bag at Parker, and put the lap top case over her diagonally.

"We are not dying in this attic. Warren is coming with help and I will be damned if he finds us dead. We just need to think." Mallory said, and looked around the attic. I ran over to the window, and slid it open. I climbed out onto the roof. I stood up and went over to the edge of the roof looking at the distance between this house and the one next door. We couldn't jump it. It was to far. I ran back over to the window, and got back into the attic, I had to get my friends out of here I had stayed to protect them and I was gonna do that. I looked at where I had found the mirror and smiled. "What?" Mallory asked.

"Mallory give me a hand with this." I said and cleared a path to the ladder that had been hidden behind cardboard boxes of junk. "Help me get it on the roof." I said, but it wasn't fitting through the window. "Shit." I throw the ladder to the floor as I saw the toy chest start to wobble.

"Seriously." Mallory said frustrated, "We can make it fit." Mallory said.

"Fuck. I can make it fit." Parker grabbed a weight from the chest and threw it at the window shattering it, "Come on. Do whatever you have to do." Parker went back to Kevin and started to drag him across the attic floor toward the window, while Mallory and I got the ladder on the roof. I stood it up and propped it onto the next door roof, forming a very unstable bridge.

"I'll go first." Mallory said and stood in front of the ladder, she took a deep breath and then knelt down on her hands and knees and started to crawl across. She looked nervous and her hands were shaking with every inch she took forward. I went over to the window and grabbed the duffel bag Parker handed to me. I slid it onto the roof and then helped her lift Kevin out of the window and onto the roof with me. She stepped out to join us next. When I turned to see Mallory's progress, she had made it across, and looked as if she might throw up.
I handed the water to Parker, "You’re next." I could hear the toy chest starting to move.

"No, I am not leaving Kevin." She said and knelt down beside him. I pulled her up.

"I will drag him across. But I need you to go." I nearly shoved her onto the ladder. She looked back at Kevin.

"Go." He moaned out and slumped onto the roof, trying to stay conscious. Parker nodded turned to the ladder and started to work her way across it the same way Mallory had. When she got half way across, she threw the water onto the roof, lost her balance and fell. I watched her hit the ground hard. She yelped in pain and tried to stand slowly. Mallory raced to the edge of the roof and looked down at her friend. Parker looked up at the ladder and then over at Courtney's house. She at least had made it into the neighbor’s yard. I grabbed Kevin by the scuff of his shirt and pulled him to the ladder. I got on first straddling it and placing him between my legs, with one hand I pulled us forward on the ladder; with the other I made sure he dragged with me. The ladder wobbled under our continuously shifting weight. I watched Parker limp over to a window that had been left open. She pushed the screen in and suddenly a hand reached out at her grabbing a hold of her blonde hair. She screamed and was pulled into the house, by four hands. Mallory reached over and helped me onto the roof as the ladder fell to the ground. We reached for Kevin snatching a hold of his arm, and Mallory grabbing his leg. We pulled him up. Mallory went over to a window.

"People are in the house they pulled in Parker." I said as she knelt down to try to open it. The window sprung open Mallory leapt back in shock as Parker stuck her head out the window.

"Come on." She said and waved us in. We passed her the water and then Kevin, and some guy helped her bring him to a queen-sized bed. Mallory climbed in next and then me. I closed the window, and looked at the guy who had helped Parker. I sized him up. He was tall and since it was dark I couldn't make out much else.

"Parker get the candles out of the duffel bag." Mallory lifted up Kevin's shirt and then tore it in half.

"We have candles lit downstairs." The stranger spoke, his voice was thick with a Spanish accent. He left the room and tore down the stairs. Mallory pulled the lighter out of her pocket and placed it on the night stand, then took the sewing kit out of the carrying case.

"The candles aren't here." Parker said, I saw that she had emptied out the entire bag.

"We forgot them." I said and looked back at the house. "Shit." I cursed.
The stranger appeared at the door then, "If we can get him down stairs you can help him in the bathroom there are no windows so you can turn the light on." Mallory nodded. I walked over to the bed and lifted Kevin's arms while the stranger carried his legs. When we reached down stairs, we opened the bathroom door, it was small, we laid Kevin on a sheet that had been laid down on the floor. Mallory came down the stairs with the lighter and sewing kit. Kevin was now officially passed out, as she entered the small bathroom and closed the door. Parker and I stood outside the bathroom, looking at the stranger. "What are your names?" he finally asked, after what seemed like five minutes of awkwardness.

"Oh I'm sorry . . . I'm Parker. This is Aaron." She forced a smile, as I noticed the candle light coming from the kitchen.

"I'm Alessandro, my wife is in the kitchen we should join her." I nodded and followed him into the kitchen where Alessandro's wife was boiling water on the stove.

She looked over at us and smiled, "Hello."

I waved nervously and Parker walked over to the table and sat down, "Isabella, this is Parker and Erin."

"Aaron." I corrected. He turned to me and nodded.

"Aaron." He said and walked over to her.

"I was going to make some dinner, do you want something?" she asked and we accepted.

Chapter 1 We Need Help

Chapter 1 We Need Help
"You guys Kevin's bleeding isn't stopping." Parker said, pulling the drenched old shirt from his side and replacing it with a new one that she pulled out of the box next to her. My friends and I had already been in the attic for five hours and we were starting to worry.

"Are they still out there?" Warren asked, while Mallory snoozed on his shoulder.
Scotty stood from his spot on the floor, and walked over to the small window in the attic. "Yeah, five people standing by the door and another two by the cars." He walked over to the attic entrance, "and God knows how many down there."
"Scott." I said. He was getting restless.

"No, look Aaron we did things Warren's way I say we get whatever we can and charge them, Get to the cars and get the hell out of here." He said picking up an old bat.

"What about Kevin?" Parker said standing from Kevin's side. She flipped her blonde hair and stared him in the eyes.

"Look I care about Kevin just as much as you but I mean if we take those people out we can come back for him, or we can leave him here and go get help." Scotty said, and pushed past her, to Warren. "So what do you say, we get to my pick up and we are set. We leave the girls and Kevin here. The girls will slow us down and the faster we get there the faster we can bring help."

Warren looked at Mallory, brushed her cheek lightly and slid her to the floor. He stood up and grabbed a pipe he saw laying in the corner. "Alright."

"Um, hello." I spoke up, "Fuck that, you wanna leave the girls here alone with bleeding out Kevin. No way, I am staying here." I said, placing my hands on my hips.

"Thank you, Aaron." Parker said, she apparently hated the idea. I smiled at her a little.

"Fine, okay stay here but don't let anyone up unless they know the password." Scott said. I nodded my head and gave him a hug. "Hey," he looked me in the eyes, "I'll be fine." I nodded.

"What’s the password?" Warren asked.

"Scotty doesn't know." I said and walked over to where Mallory was laying, "What do I tell her when she wakes up?"

Warren stared at her again, "The truth that I love her and went for help." He turned and opened the attic entrance. Scotty peered down and looked over to Warren. He went down the stairs, first and I watched Scotty follow, Parker and I closed the hatch quickly.

"Watch them through the window." Kevin said, Parker and I ran across the attic toward the window. "Do you see them?" Kevin asked from the floor.

"No, not yet." I said, searching for them, the people in front of the house didn't move. "Come on. Come on. Come on." I muttered, feeling helpless knowing that two of my friends were so far MIA

"What do we do?" Parker asked looking at me, "What do we do?"

"Wait, and they’ve only been gone about a minute let them think." I said, when I turned back to the window Warren emerged from the house, he took off sprinting past the five people and toward the street. The people followed him. "Oh shit." I gasped. Warren was flying and the people were gaining on him, just as Scotty leapt off the porch and slammed his bat across the face of one of the people watching the car. The woman was knocked out and the man on the opposite side dove at him. Scott swung the bat and connected with his jaw, I could hear it shatter from the attic, as Parker and I clutched each others hand."Go. Get in the fucking car." I screamed as he unlocked the driver's side door, and jumped in.

"Oh my God!" Parker yelled out, I looked over at Warren who was now standing on top of a car swing his pipe at any of the people that got to close. I looked over at Scott as his pick up sputtered, and sputtered but didn't roar on.

"Fuck!" I heard him cry as he kicked the door open and ran to the front of the truck propping up the hood. Warren's pipe connected to some old man's face. He jumped back to the ground and ran back onto another car. Scott started looking for something wrong with the car.

"Oh my God! Scott watch out!" Parker shouted as the guy he had cracked in the jaw stood up and slammed the hood of the car down on top of him. It slammed down on his head and upper body the man raised it and slammed it down again and Scotty slumped down to the drive way. I ran over to the attic entrance, picking up an abandoned golf club, opened the entrance and jumped down. I landed awkwardly and felt my ankle twist. I got up and ran down the stairs. When I reached down stairs I saw three people knocked out, I sped outside where the guy with the broken jaw started to drag a disorientated Scott away toward the shed in the backyard. I smashed my club in the back of his head and he fell to the ground.

"Scott." I said and helped him up, we ran over to the pick up, I could see that Warren had been knocked down on the ground. I threw Scott the keys to Queen Bee. Warren kicked some bitch in the throat and scurried away from the grasps of two others. I watched as my car revved to life and Scott blew past me and toward Warren hitting some guy that was after him. Warren dove past the people attacking him and into the open passenger side door. "Yes!" I exclaimed, then I was on the ground. The woman Scott had cracked in the head was on top of me, I rolled on top of her, and slapped her clean across the face, She grabbed my neck and I felt her nails dig into my skin. I stood up, and on her arms. She grabbed at my legs as I reached for the house I could see Warren's attackers getting closer to me. I kicked the woman in the face and raced into the house stumbling up the stairs and toward the attic. "Scotty doesn't know!" I screamed. The attic swung down and I climbed the steps. I helped Parker pull it up, and the string. I leaned against the wall.

"What were you thinking?" Parker shouted, I massaged my neck slightly it hurt. "You’re bleeding." She said. I saw Mallory walk away from the window apparently she had woken up.

"Are you okay?" she asked. I nodded. "So, what now?"

"They'll be back soon. We can hold out." Kevin said and clutched his wounded side keeping pressure on the wound. He was losing color, but he was right they had gone for help. They would be back.

The Day Introduction Seeking Solitude

Introduction Seeking Solitude

"Go! Go! Go!" Warren shouted, grabbing the armour, and struggling with Scott to pull it in front of the door. Mallory kept screaming, and had now sunk in the corner of the room, crying loudly. I ran over to the window and started to try and pry it open. It slid open easily and I ran over to Mallory.

"Try to stay calm. Just try to stay calm." I sputtered, grabbing her hand. I lifted her from the floor and walked her over to the window. "Come on." She was now whimpering as I helped her out the window, and onto the roof of Courtney's house. I slid out the window next, joining Mallory who was now screaming again watching the hordes of people walking toward the house. I stuck my head back in the house, "Guys come on!" I waved them over.

"Go!." Warren shouted to Scott, Scott took off to the window and dove through it. I helped him up off the roof, and looked over at Mallory, she was backing up to much.

"Mallory watch out your near the edge!" I shouted as her foot slipped off the roof and she fell, one of her legs dangled off the roof top as she kept screaming. I took off to her, grabbing her hand. I heard a shatter and Mallory was tugged down, her screaming intensified.

"Oh my God! Aaron! Don't let them take me." she screamed as I pulled. I could feel her kicking at the people trying to pull her down, her other leg going over the edge. I looked over at Scott who was trying to pull Warren out of the house, and I thought about how it would be like to die, here with these people. I felt Mallory's grip begin to slip, I saw Warren kicking Courtney in the face. Her nose broke, and blood smeared her face. Mallory screamed louder, as I pulled her. My arms were killing me, the pain was intense crazy. She got one of her legs back on the roof, and I grabbed her ass and lifted her completely onto the roof. She scurried away from the edge, and I ran over to help Scotty pull Warren out of the house. I grabbed Warren's legs and pulled, he was out. Courtney's arm reached out the window along with her mother's.

"Warren I thought you loved me." she snarled, blood streaking her face as she tried to climb through the window.

Warren, Scott, and I stood up, Mallory shrieked and slammed Courtney in the face with the satellite dish she had pried off the roof. "For the last time." Mallory grabbed the collar of Courtney's shirt and pulled her to the edge of the roof, "stay away from my boyfriend!" she tossed her off the roof and into the crowd of people now surrounding the roof. I grabbed Mrs. Stat, Courtney's mom, and with Warren and Scott's help followed Mallory's lead and threw her off the roof. We climbed back into the house, and looked around the room. Mallory immediately went back into the corner and started to cry again, "Oh my God... do you think Parker and Kevin are okay?" Warren went over to her, placed his hands on her face and looked her in the eyes. I moved the armour with Scotty and looked in the hall.

"Sweetie." Warren said, "I need you to be that girl that was on the roof a few seconds ago, okay. I need you to be strong. You cannot... I know you wanna scream and panic and freak out but I need you, to try and control yourself. I need you to be take control of whats going on inside your head, because I need you." Mallory nodded her head as tears of fear streaked down her face.
Scotty and I went through the house and locked the guest room, where the people that had tried to grab Mallory were now stuck. They were banging on the door, and Scott slid a dresser out of what seemed like Courtney's parents room and pushed it in front of the door. Just as Mallory and Warren came out of Courtney's room. "They're breaking in downstairs too." he said as I looked through Mr and Mrs. Stat's closet. Mallory appeared next to me.

"Thanks for pulling me up." she said and hugged me. I smiled.

"Please I could never let you fall." I smirked. I continued searching for something anything when I heard Mallory let out a yelp when she reached the doorway of the bedroom. I took off toward the hall to her aid but when I got there she was embracing Parker and Kevin.

"Thank God." she said, "How did you guys I mean what happened?" she stepped back to give them room.

"We went outside to help Mr. Stat with the groceries, when I got to his car. Kevin pushed me, I hit the ground so hard. We were being nasty to each other like always and when I fell I thought he..." Parker put her hands on her head. Kevin was had blood dripping down his side, "Um Mr. Stat tried to hit me in the head with a shovel and Kevin pushed me. He pushed me." She wrapped her arms around him.

"I wrestled the shovel away from him and stabbed him with it, in the neck. I don't know how my side got sliced open." he said and lifted up his shirt.

"I do, that crazy bitch neighbor came at us out of nowhere and ripped into him with some weird claw looking thing with a handle. Anyway I hit her with this ugly flower pot and when we ran back inside, these people rushed the house, I slipped, and landed next to the downstairs coat closet, I opened the door grabbed Kevin and we stayed in there. Until we heard your voices up here. What the hell is going on?" Parker finished and Kevin slid his arm around her for support. Scott still holding the door to the guest room closed with the dresser interrupted.

"Look." He pointed to a string hanging from the ceiling, and attic door. I yanked the string and sure enough stairs spilled down, we all ran up into the attic. I pulled the door up and then the string. I looked at my friends.

Mallory, Warren, Scotty, Parker, Kevin, and me "We'll be fine, okay. We just hang here for a while wait till things cool down, and then go call the police and everything will be okay." Warren looked at everyone, just like I did. "We're gonna be fine." he said again.

The Day Charaxter Profiles

Aaron Seitlin
The lead character and the person whom most of the story is told through, he is gay and pretty much an all around average guy when it comes to strength and speed, as well as intelligence. However Aaron is a quick thinker and good under pressure. He is the conscience of the group. Scott
"Scotty"
Depkin
Scotty is the muscle, though he speaks up when he feels things are out of hand and tends to take over when he thinks that Warren's plan has failed, he is all around loyal and pretty much does what is older brother tells him to. He is a year younger than Warren and met Aaron through Mallory his senior year of high school. Though Aaron always had a crush on him, it was only lately that the then straight Scotty has started to develop feelings for Aaron. Scott is definitely the most physically dominate guy in the group having played hockey since freshman year of high school he has excellent stamina and ice skating skills. Though he can be hot headed at times his brother, Aaron, and Parker always seem to be able to calm him down.

Parker Gallow
This shallow and plastic girly girl is nothing more than meets the eye. She likes tight clothes and short skirts, and knows all there is to know about the latest hi tech gadgets on the market that she just has to have. She is definitely the mouth, putting her two sense in whenever she can. This catty mean girl does however have a large amount of sass. She is resilient, never giving up and always worried about her friends and cousins Warren and Scotty. Kevin Kocur Bernstein
Kevin is much like Parker. He is the ass of the group, necessary but every now and then needs a good kicking. He tends to disagree on the majority of Warren's plans and usually wants to do his own thing which makes him extremely disliked. However in a tight spot Kevin always comes through and does what he can to help everyone. Kevin is definitely the fastest of the guys and second fastest only to Mallory. He is a go getter and usually wants to fight rather than run or hide. He is a cocky obnoxious jock, who like Scott plays hockey. Kevin is Aaron's step brother.

Isabella and Alessandro Badia
The married couple, the two of them are more in love than any two people could be. They have a six year old daughter named Iyari, who they will take care of at all costs.

She is extremely brave and isn't scared of dying. She believes in playing it safe and watching out for the groups best interests making sure that everyone survives at all costs. She is around twenty two years old and was a bartender at a club nearby. Her boyfriend, Antwan is assumed dead.

Bomani Bestat
He like Parker, Kevin, Aaron, and Mallory was a student at Apple Grove. He isn't particularly smart or strong He often hides from battles and doesn't like to get his hands dirty. However he doesn't have a problem expressing his opinions and sticking up for someone he feels is right or being picked on, but he'll be the first to throw blame around if he thinks someone is responsible for any negative action. He often bumps heads with people and gets along well with Kevin.

Iyari Badia
She is the daughter of Alessandro and Isabella this sassy six year old can take care of herself. She is spunky and full of fight. She does as she is told and is far from being a liability. She admires Parker's fashion sense and is always putting on over sized jewelry. She also has a small crush on Kevin especially when he acts like a jerk. Kevin is always sweet and kind to her.

Ronan South
He is Arden's older brother and definitely her over protector. He and his sister were separated from their parents on a family vacation. He was sophomore in college and visiting during break. He is a mixture of Scotty and Warren, and after a while becomes almost a fourth in command behind Lacheya and Scotty. Warren trusts him more than the hot headed Kevin and ditsy damsel in distress Parker.
Arden South
This go getter is definitely a spit fire. She hates to be bossed around and be told what to do. She often listens to her brother reluctantly and usually rushes into things without thinking, but if she gets herself into a mess you better believe she gets herself out of them.

Ava Michele Lewis
This girl is at the breaking point. She trusts no one except her boyfriend Luciano, and his father Bruno. Ava is easily angered and has a tendency to be a bit of a know it all. She fights tooth and nail in every scuffle. Her boyfriend comes first and to hell with everyone else.

Luciano Costa
He cares about his girlfriend, however the two constantly argue. He believes in safety in numbers much like Lacheya.
